FUNIMATION ACQUIRES “FULL METAL PANIC!” AND “FULL METAL PANIC? FUMOFFU”
FUNimation® Entertainment today announced that it has acquired home entertainment, broadcast, digital and merchandise rights to the 24 episode sci-fi action anime series “Full Metal Panic!” and the 12 episode “Full Metal Panic? Fumoffu” sequel from Kadokawa Pictures, Inc.
“Full Metal Panic!” is based on a series of novels by Gatoh Shoji. The first season of the series covers the first 3 novels, while the sequel, “Fumoffu,” covers various of the short stories. FUNimation has previously releases the third season, Full Metal Panic! The Second Raid.
FUNimation Entertainment will begin streaming the series in December on http://www.funimation.com/video as well as other streaming video partner sites thereafter and will release the series on DVD and Blu-ray in 2010.

A official teaser for Kick Ass has arrived. There's been mixed reviews by people about trailer. I love comic series by Mark Millar and John Romita Jr. I didn't think much of comic, until I read it. And, I think Lionsgate could've done a better teaser trailer. But, I believe people are going to get a nice surprise. It seems film is keeping to comic series. I believe, it will breathe of fresh air in this stuffy film industry. Can't wait for this one.

FUNimation announced that it has acquired home entertainment, broadcast, digital, and merchandise rights to “Initial D First Stage,” Initial D Second Stage, “Initial D Extra Stage”, “Initial D Third Stage” and “Initial D Fourth Stage” from Kodansha..
These stages will feature a new English dub cast and will remain uncut and use the original music.
FUNIMATION ENTERTAINMENT ACQUIRES “X” THE POST-APOCALYPTIC SCFI ANIME SERIES
FUNimation announced that it has acquired home entertainment rights to the 24 episode apocalyptic drama anime series “X” (TV) from D-Rights Inc. I'm a big fan of comic Kick Ass. It tells story about a young comic book reading high school kid named Dave Lizewski. He decides to become his own superhero. Dave gets a scuba diving suit and calls himself Kick Ass. While superhero patrolling he meets two vicious vigilantes, mobsters and whole lot of trouble. It's a great comic series. After seeing clips, I'm getting excited about this movie. Check out clips below.

The Book of Eli Trailer
Denzel Washington plays Eli, a survivor of post-apocalyptic world. He wonders across country protecting a sacred book hat holds the secrets to saving humankind. Everybody wants book and will kill to get it. The film is directed by Albert & Allen Hughes (Menace II Society, Dead Presidents, From Hell). The trailers looks pretty cool.
I wonder, if book has pictures. Hey, it gets boring in a post-apocalyptic world.
ANIMATED BAND FROM ADULT SWIM ARRIVES IN AN ALL-NEW SERIES FROM DARK HORSE!
Following the release of the highly anticipated Dethklok vs. The Goon, Dark Horse Comics and Adult Swim announce a brand-new comics series based on the immensely popular animated show Metalocalypse. The follow up album, Dethklok: The Dethalbum II, will be released on September 8th from Williams Street Records.

It's directed by James McTeigue (V for Vendetta). It looks pretty cool. Expect lots of special effects, fight scenes and ninjas.

Ryuhei Kitamura Directs Top Cow’s ‘Magdalena’
Ryuhei Kitamura will direct Top Cow's Magdalena. Ryuhei has directed hits like "Versus" and "Azumi". Magdalena revolves around a woman and protector of the Catholic Church. She is descended from Christ’s bloodline and uses her Spear Of Destiny to strike down her enemies.
Platinum Studios joins with Top Cow to bring comic to big screen. Ryuhei is a great director, if he can do same thing he did for Azumi for this character. They'll have a big hit on their hands.
Also, don't point your spear in anger.

Sam Raimi will direct Warcraft movie. The film is based on Blizzard Entertainment's online fantasy game. Legendary Pictures is bringing game to big screen. The online game has a huge following. Hopefully a good story can be written that will reflect characters and online world fans love. There is no cast or release date yet.

EA AND DARK HORSE COMICS BLAST OFF WITH MASS EFFECT COMIC SERIES

In Mass Effect: Redemption, the story takes readers through the treacherous events leading up to Mass Effect 2 which opens with galactic hero Commander Shepard having mysteriously gone missing and left to fight for survival. Marvel and Madhouse Team-Up
Marvel and Madhouse teamed up to to create four all new anime versions of classic Marvel super heroes. The official teaser trailers will debut at the Marvel Animation Panel at San Diego Comic-Con. These Marvel Anime TV series are being created as a way of merging the Marvel super heroes of western culture with the bold animation tradition of Japan. The resulting product will be four visually groundbreaking anime series featuring popular super heroes redesigned and repurposed as emerging from the fabric of Japanese culture. The series are expected to hit the airwaves on the Animax channel in Japan in spring of 2010.

FUNimation® Entertainment today announced the cast and crew for the 26 episode supernatural action anime series "Nabari No Ou".Main Cast: Miharu- Brina Palencia, Yoite- Joel McDonald, Tobari- Eric Vale, Koichi- Chris Burnett, Yukimi- Rob McCollum, Raimei- Kate Oxley. Additionally, the first release will feature episodic character performances by Michael Tatum, Greg Ayres, Kent Williams, Jamie Marchi, Caitlin Glass, Christopher Bevins, and Stephanie Young.

FUNimation Announces Cast of Dragonaut
In order to avoid Earth's impending destruction from an asteroid, the International Solarsystem Development Agency (ISDA) works on the "D-Project", and secretly creates weapons called “dragons “. However, they soon find out that the asteroid is not their only threat, as powerful dragon-like creatures appear on Earth. After witnessing a murder by one of the creatures, Jin Kamishina gets involved with the ISDA and becomes a dragon pilot, otherwise known as a "Dragonaut". Helping him on his journey is the mysterious Toa. FUNimation Entertainment will release the series beginning in November 2009.

I'm a big fan of Darker than Black series. Now, a sequel will be coming soon. The original director Tensai Okamura will be back for TV anime sequel. Funimation release first series and hopefully they'll get this one.

FUNimation Acquires SORI’s ICHI
Good people at Funimation Entertainment done it again. They acquired varied rights in North America to the Japanese action film ICHI from major entertainment studio Shochiku Co., Ltd. In ICHI, Haruka Ayase stars as the blind musician Ichi who leads a life of solitude as she wanders from town to town. When a village she is passing through becomes hostage to two opposing clans, Ichi must reveal her deadly sword fighting skills to protect the villagers.
Big fan of ZATOICHI franchise. Can't wait.
